Respite Care Program & Overnight Respite Care
The Respite Care Program provides respite in blocks of two weeks for clients needing a temporary placement in the Greenwoods Care Facility. Depending on need a client might be eligible for respite care several times each year. Respite Care is often a critical support when caregivers require a break due to illness, personal health circumstances or simply because they need a vacation from what can often be a challenging role. Access to respite care is via the Vancouver Island Health Authority assessor. It is important o note that respite care is often a vital component in a comprehensive care plan. Respite Care has been effective in both delaying the need for residential care placement and in acclimatizing individuals to the residential care environment making permanent placement in a residential care facility more a natural transition and less a jarring event. Overnight Respite Care can also be booked for clients attending the Day Program and requiring an overnight stay.
